Garhshankar, February 16- The elections to the Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad in Punjab will be held before May 31. There are 153 Panchayat Samiti and 23 Zila Parishad in Punjab. It is worth mentioning that now the assembly elections are in 2027. Before that, it is very important for the government to win the Panchayat and Zila Parishad elections. These elections are especially for rural areas, so whichever political party wins these elections, it will know its vote bank base in the rural areas of Punjab.
Let us tell you that earlier the State Election Commission has issued guidelines to the officials for the review of voter lists for the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections. Under this, the draft of voter lists will be based on the updated list of Gram Panchayats published on September 4, 2024. Any claims and objections in this regard can be submitted till 18 February 2025. The claims will be settled by 27 February 2025, and the final list will be published on 3 March 2025.
There are a total of 25 Block Samiti members in Garhshankar Block, including Haibowal (General), Achalpur (Women), Mansowal (SC Women), Binewal (SC), Bhandiyar (SC), Garhi (Women), Road Majara (General), Chak Phulu (General), Simbli (Women), Samundra (Women), Panamam (SC Women), Basiala (SC), Dagam (Women), Goleen (General), Pahlewal (SC) Rampur (SC), Padrana (Women), Kukkaran (General), Saila Khurd (Women), Saila Kala (SC Women), Posi (SC Women), Paddi Sura Singh (General), Moranwali (SC Women), Binjo (General), Majara Degree (General) seats. This time, which seat is reserved for which category will be known after the notification.
