Polls held peacefully in the district, 62.05 percent polling till 4 pm

Hoshiarpur - Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Komal Mittal said that voting for panchayats in the district was completed peacefully. The Deputy Commissioner said that 62.05 percent polling took place in 10 blocks of the district till 4 pm. In which 52.39 in Garhshankar block, 61.07 in Mahilpur, 64.3 percent in Hoshiarpur-1, 60.28 percent in Hoshiarpur-2, 62 percent in Tanda, 64.53 percent in Dasuha, 59.83 percent in Mukerian, 65.91 percent in Hajipur, 64.93 percent in Talwara and 69.48 percent votes were cast in Block Bhunga.

The Deputy Commissioner said that there are 1405 Gram Panchayats in 10 blocks of the district and the number of polling booths is 1683. He said that a total of 2730 candidates have contested for the post of Sarpanch and 6751 candidates for the post of Panch in the district. 265 panchayats in the district have already been unanimously elected.
The Deputy Commissioner while praising the officers and employees who performed their duties in the election process said that the elections were completed successfully only because of their responsible duties. He praised and thanked the group of voters who exercised their right to vote.
District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal along with SSP Surendra Lamba visited various polling booths today and took stock of the election process.
Meanwhile, he reached the polling booths of Ajowal, Adamwal, Bajwara, Hardokhanpur, Ram Colony Camp and Jahankhel and other places and reviewed the entire process and also interacted with the officials present there.
SSP Surendra Lamba reviewed the security arrangement. He said that adequate security arrangements were made to ensure peaceful conduct of the election process and necessary personnel were deployed at various places.
It is to be mentioned that the voting percentage in the district was 12.48 till 10 am, 25.57 per cent till 12 noon, 45.64 per cent till 2 pm and 62.05 per cent till 4 pm.
