Mehandipur: BR Youth Services Sports Academy running in Gurudwara Shri Guru Ravidas Bhawan Ji organized its first badminton tournament, in which players from thirteen to nineteen years participated. This one-day tournament was dedicated to the Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and was sponsored by the family of the former Sarpanch of the village, late Naseeb Chand Salan.
In this tournament, Nirvair Badhan won in Under Thirteen and Charanjit Salan came second, Mahesh Salan won in Under Fifteen and Keshav Badhan came second, Keshav Badhan won in Under Seventeen and Mahesh Salan came second, Lokesh Nawanshahr won in Under Nineteen and the rest of Nawanshahr came second. After Diwali, trophy certificates were given to the players who came second and the players gave the message that now sports and not drugs are prevalent in the villages of Punjab. Special arrangements were made for first aid and refreshments for the players. Dignitaries were also felicitated on behalf of the Sabha.
