Patiala, December 26- An important meeting was held today by the Regional Office of the Punjab Pollution Control Board, Patiala with the presidents and members of the Marriage Palace Association and Catering Association to stop the use of single-use plastic in the district.
Giving information about this, Environmental Engineer Ing. Gurkaran Singh said that the main purpose of this meeting was to prepare a strategy to stop the use of single-use plastic in Patiala district and spread awareness in this regard.
During this meeting, the officials of the Punjab Pollution Control Board informed the members of the associations about the harmful effects of single-use plastic on the environment and health. On this occasion, ways to reduce the use of single-use plastic during wedding ceremonies and other social events were discussed. In return, the use of eco-friendly alternatives was recommended.
On this occasion, local business and social organizations were encouraged to play their role for environmental protection. The marriage palace and catering associations present at the meeting assured full cooperation.
