Nawanshahr/Mukandpur - For the first time after 77 years, Jaswinder Kaur Paur (age only 38 years), a woman belonging to Scheduled Caste, was elected Sarpanch in Lalo Majara under Block Aur. Which in itself is a great example. It is also to be mentioned here that first Jaswinder Kaur Paur was unanimously elected as the Sarpanch of the village by the entire village. But later, those same people fielded their second candidate in opposition to Jaswinder Kaur Paur, who had made an announcement regarding Panchayat elections in the Gurughar of the village to achieve consensus.

Then when the people used their votes, the people again voted unanimously for the candidate Jaswinder Kaur Paur with 172 votes and the opposition candidate got 157 votes. Out of the votes cast in the entire election, 8 votes were cancelled. It is also worth mentioning here that Jaswinder Kaur Paur's husband Paramjit Pammi (Bahujan Samaj thinker and writer Pammi Lalomjara), who is the village's first Scheduled Caste Sarpanch, is currently serving as the village's current Numdar. .
In the history of democracy of Punjab, no other such example can be found. At present, the wife will serve the village as the sarpanch and the husband will serve the village as the current numberdar. In the newly elected Panchayat, along with Jaswinder Kaur Paur Sarpanch, the elected Panchs Joginder Singh, Jaspreet Kaur, Bhupinder Kaur, Hari Ram and Gurpreet Singh will provide their services to the people of the village as village officials.
