Chandigarh: 7th March, 2024:- The Department of Women and Child Development, Chandigarh Administration organized a Mega Camp on 07/03/2024 (Thursday) at Bal Bhawan, Sector- 23, Chandigarh. The camp and Queer Mela was organized in collaboration with Saksham Prakriti Welfare Society, Chandigarh headed by founder Mx. Dhananjay Chauhan, also Non Official member of Transgender Welfare Board, Chandigarh, Queering in Chandigarh, Queer Lifafa and others with the departments of District Magistrate, Municipal Corporation, UADAI (Aadhar), Food and Supply and Consumer Affairs, Transport Department, Election Office, Regional Employment Exchange, Punjab National Bank, SACS, WCC/SC/BC, U.T. Chandigarh. 

The Camp was dedicated to main stream the Transgender Persons by providing them with a common platform wherein they could avail all benefits and show their talent through cultural activities. The initiative undertaken by the Department of Social Welfare, U.T., Chandigarh aimed to sort out the problems of Transgender Persons for Issue of ID Card, Voter Card, Aadhar Card, Ration Card, Employment Registration card, bus pass, UDID card to handicapped transgender persons, senior citizen card to senior transgender persons, guidance for issue of registration card for Medical Check-up, to file ITR, to avail concessional loan, guidance regarding skill development courses, legal guidance and AIDS control guidance. All such persons have to bring concerned prescribed documents with them.

The Camp was attended by more than 150 Transgender Persons and others. Dr. Palika Arora, Director Social Welfare has directed all the officials of concerned Departments to make all efforts to sort out the problems of visiting Transgender Persons on the spot.
