
Mohali Administration Observes International Day for Girl Child
SAS Nagar, October 11, 2024:- In a bid to provide an informal platform to express their wishes and future dreams to fly high in life, the International Day for Girl Child is observed here by the District Administration in collaboration with Social Security, Woman and Child Department of Punjab in a unique way. ADC (D) Sonam Chaudhary while addressing the students from Meritorious School, Govt School Mataur, Kumbhra and 3B1 and School of Eminence Phase 11, Mohali, exhorted them to work hard to achieve the desired goal of life.

ADC (D) Sonam Chaudhary while addressing the students from Meritorious School, Govt School Mataur, Kumbhra and 3B1 and School of Eminence Phase 11, Mohali, exhorted them to work hard to achieve the desired goal of life.
She said that any profession they opt for seeks long-term focus to meet the target. Asking to inculcate a sense of motivation and encouragement in them, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Sonam Chaudhary stressed on equally need of taking care of health and mental peace. She said that there may be failures in life but take them positively by thinking that life has given one more chance to go ahead which needs more hard work. She said that they should also guide their mothers on the changes happening in the world by getting well-versed in general knowledge that would be acquired by going through newspapers and books only.
Director-Principal Dr B R Ambedkar Institute of Medical Science, Mohali, Mrs Bhavneet Bharti said that nowadays males and females have equal opportunities and the term role reversal also emerged as the male member of the family has to do house chores of a female member as per the need of the hour. She said that the opportunities that knock on our door must be availed to shape our future. Advising the girls of sound health by monitoring regularly HB should not be less than 12.5, she said that we should strive hard to make our country Anemia free by taking iron pills whenever they need to do so. Stressing focusing on a balanced diet needed for their growing age, she said that should not opt for shortcuts in life to achieve their goal instead practice and exercise regularly without worrying the failures.
Dr Amrit Kaur Virk, from the Community Medicine Department of AIMS, Mohali gave tips on healthy lifestyles to the girls by emphasizing the importance of a nutritional diet. Keeping them aware of the deficiency of iron that causes Anemia and giving information on Cervix cancer, she said that sound health is a must to go ahead in life. She also sensitized them to the importance of education which is a must for women empowerment.
DEO (Secondary) Dr Ginni Duggal, while throwing light on the importance of being a girl said that they have unlimited career opportunities to fulfil their dreams and for all this, Education and self-confidence is one the important tool in society.
CDPO Gursimran Kaur compeered the whole programme while District Programme Officer Gagandeep Singh distributed a kit of stationery to each of the guests.
A helpdesk to promote ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ was also inaugurated at the ground floor of the District Administrative Complex by ADC (D) Sonam Chaudhary along with Dr Bhavneet Bharti in the presence of these female students.
Newly joined PCS Officer, Dr Ankita Kansal (Assistant Commissioner) also gave tips to the students on how to prepare for civil services. The students’ enquiries about the various aspects were addressed by all the guests and encouraged them to reach the goals they have decided to achieve.
