Secretary Home Affairs and Justice Deputed as Election Observer to SAS Nagar for Gram Panchayats
October 4, 2024:- To ensure free, fair and transparent elections to Gram Panchayats in SAS Nagar district, Jasvinder Kaur Sidhu, IAS, Secretary, Home Affairs and Justice, Punjab has been appointed as Election Observer to Gram Panchayat Elections by State Election Commission Punjab, today. Holding a meeting with the DC, SSP, ADCs and other officers to get first-hand information about the ongoing Nomination Process of Panchayat Elections, she urged all the officers to keep the entire election process transparent and smooth ensuring law and order perfectly.
October 4, 2024:- To ensure free, fair and transparent elections to Gram Panchayats in SAS Nagar district, Jasvinder Kaur Sidhu, IAS, Secretary, Home Affairs and Justice, Punjab has been appointed as Election Observer to Gram Panchayat Elections by State Election Commission Punjab, today. Holding a meeting with the DC, SSP, ADCs and other officers to get first-hand information about the ongoing Nomination Process of Panchayat Elections, she urged all the officers to keep the entire election process transparent and smooth ensuring law and order perfectly.
The Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain while apprised her of the details of the voters and Gram Panchayats, said that the district has 332 Gram Panchayats with 422 polling booths. There are 296860 voters ( Male 159028, Female 137823, Others 9) in the district, she added. A total of 46 RO/ARO offices have been set up for submitting nominations, she added. Furthermore, to facilitate the aspirant candidates, all the BDPO offices were kept open on the Holidays of 2nd and 3rd October to issue NOCs and NDCs, she said. Apart from that the dates and places for training of polling personnel have also been finalised by the SDMs. DC further said that DDPO Baljinder Singh has been appointed as Nodal Officer, District Control Room for grievances related to Panchayat elections with the contact number 0172-2219250.
The SSP Deepak Pareek while giving assurance to the Election Observer said that police personnel have been deployed at RO offices to maintain law and order. He also shared the other details of security arrangements for holding the elections peacefully. The Election Observer appeals to all the candidates who have submitted their nominations to maintain law and order besides abiding by the model code of conduct to ensure peaceful, free and fair elections.

The officers who attended the meeting included ADC (G) Viraj S Tidke, ADC (D)-cum-Additional District Election Officer for Panchayat Elections Sonam Chaudhary, CMFO Deepankar Garg and LO to Election Observer Executive Engineer PWD Shivpreet Singh. Later on, the Election Observer visited the ongoing Nomination process at MC Office Mohali and Mubarkpur (Derabassi) and interacted with the ROs.
