Nawanshahr- Today, the Muslim Organization of Punjab and other organizations held a protest in Nawanshahr demanding the repeal of the Waqf Amendment Act, in which the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) New Democracy participated in large numbers. The protesters first gathered at the local mosque, after which they protested in the city and submitted a memorandum to the district administration in the name of the President.
The protest held in front of the DC office was led by Muslim Organization of Punjab President Advocate Naeem, Jamiat-e-Ulama Hind District Jalandhar President Mazhar Alam, Muslim Organization of Punjab District President Nizam, Jamiat-e-Ulama Hind District Nawanshahr President Dr. Ashraf, CPI(ML) ND leader Kulwinder Singh Waraich, Democratic Lawyers Association Punjab Convener Daljit Singh Advocate, District Secretary of Jamhoori Adhikar Sabha Jasbir Deep, Dr. Bhawan President Satish, Istikhar, Irshad, Javed and Salim said that by intensifying the attacks on minorities, especially the Muslim community, the Modi government has forcibly passed the Waqf (Amendment) Act from both the houses. Its real aim is to take away the management of the Waqf properties of the Muslim community from them and give it to the government. The Modi government's Waqf law has completely removed the representatives of the Muslim community from the management of Waqf properties. 
Now all the members of the board will be appointed by the government, which has done away with the process of being selected by the community. They said that the new law has made it mandatory to include members of two other communities (non-Muslims) in every provincial board. It is clear that this whole plan is to remove the control of the Muslim community from the Waqf properties and give it to the government. 
The leaders said that the new law takes away the right to manage from the community, where only 4 out of the 11 members of the board must be Muslims. In this way, 7 members can be non-Muslims, and the opinion of the Muslim members can be ignored and interfere in their religious affairs. Waqfs are donations that Muslims give for religious or charitable purposes.
 Waqf Boards manage historic mosques, tombs, graveyards, Eidgahs, shops and lakhs of acres of land. According to the Sachar Committee report, more than 6 lakh acres of land is under Waqf.
The new law is putting a spotlight on Waqf properties, especially valuable properties in urban areas. The Sachar Committee said that 604 Waqf properties in five states including Delhi are illegally occupied by the government.
This attack is a fascist attack on minorities by the RSS-BJP. They are attacking Muslims from jobs, employment, housing, freedom of food to religious rights. Demands for commercial extortion, violent attacks, and now these legal attacks. All these are part of an overall attack.
