He said that even with a little rain, Shimla Pahari Chowk and surrounding areas get filled with 2 to 3 feet of water and due to lack of drainage, people have to face a lot of problems.
To solve this, on the instructions of Cabinet Minister Brahma Shankar Jimpa, a project is being set up behind Shimla Hills by the Municipal Corporation in collaboration with the Sewerage Board. Under which a pit of 20 by 20 will be made and two intake points will be made near the Chowk and rainwater will be sent to the pit and from there, by installing a pump, the water will be connected to the already laid pipes through pipes. At Dhobighat Chowk, which will drain the water at the Chowk but will get rid of waterlogging. Mayor Surinder Kumar said that an amount of Rs 1.57 crore has been released for this project and the work has started. He appealed to the city dwellers to be cautious of those who spread rumors of destroying the existence of Shimla hills without getting information about the project and have faith in the Municipal Corporation. Because if a small area of ????Shimla hills is being used to solve the problem of waterlogging in the Chowk, then it is for the welfare of the city dwellers and renovation work will be done as soon as the project is completed. On this occasion, Sewerage Board Executive Amandeep and SDO Sushil Vansal also gave detailed information about the project and discussed the work with Mayor Surinder Kumar. On this occasion, Ashwani Sharma, who arrived on behalf of the Mohalla residents, also requested to complete the work as soon as possible and beautify Shimla hill after getting information about this project.
