
Professor Jitendra Sahu Awarded "Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar" for Medicine in 2024
Professor Jitendra Kumar Sahu, a pediatric neurologist at PGIMER, Chandigarh, has been awarded the prestigious "Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar: Vigyan Yuva-Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar" for 2024 in Medicine. This award, given by the Government of India, recognizes outstanding research contributions in medicine by individuals under 45.

This award, given by the Government of India, recognizes outstanding research contributions in medicine by individuals under 45.
An alumnus of Pt JNM Medical College, Raipur, Prof. Sahu completed his MD and DM at AIIMS, New Delhi. He has been a faculty member at PGIMER since 2011 and has gained international experience through fellowships in the UK, Australia, and the USA.
Prof. Sahu's research focuses on childhood epilepsy, particularly infantile spasms. With over 175 publications, he is recognized globally as a leader in this field. He has received numerous awards, including the John Stobo Prichard Award 2024 and the Bruce S. Schoenberg International Neuroepidemiology Award 2023.
Prof. Sahu expressed gratitude to his mentors, colleagues, and students. President Droupadi Murmu will present the award on August 23 at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi, during National Space Day celebrations.
