Una, July 23 - To ensure cleanliness of tourist places in Una district, 'Green Leaf Rating System' will soon be implemented under Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin. The purpose of this rating system is to provide certification to the cleanliness of tourist units, which will not only improve cleanliness but will also promote tourism. Under the chairmanship of Sub Divisional Magistrate (Civil) Una Vishwamohan Dev Chauhan To implement this system in Una sub-division, a sub-division level committee meeting was held on Tuesday in which officers of various departments and representatives of local trade unions were present.
In the meeting, all the units like hotels, restaurants, resorts, dharamshalas and homestays located in the subdivision were made aware of the self-assessment process regarding cleanliness standards. These units will have to submit the self-assessment report on the prescribed form to the Deputy Commissioner Una. After this, on the basis of the findings of the survey by the divisional committee, the district committee will issue rating certificates to the tourist units according to one leaf, three leaves and five leaves.
A total of 200 points are assigned under the proposed rating system, including 80 points for human faecal sludge management, 80 points for solid waste management, and 40 points for grey water management. Units complying with sanitation standards will be able to display the rating certificate on their property or public website and can also use it for branding.
Let us tell you, under the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin, certain standards of safe hygiene have been made under the Swachhata Green Leaf Rating System, which hospitality facilities are expected to follow.
Vishwamohan Dev Chauhan said that this initiative will not only promote cleanliness but will also encourage healthy competition among tourist units. Adopting and following the standards of Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin will create the necessary infrastructure and also spread awareness related to it.
The aim of this initiative is not only to promote cleanliness but also to give a new direction to local tourism. Local businesses and tourism units have welcomed this initiative and hope that it will promote tourism in the area and increase awareness about cleanliness.
