Garshankar July 16 - The way the prices of vegetables have increased even before the onset of rains, the pocket budget of every buyer has been severely strained.
If you check the prices of vegetables in the retail market, you will find that onion is Rs 50 per kg, potato Rs 30, ginger Rs 120, green peas Rs 140, tomato Rs 100, capsicum Rs 80, cucumber Rs 60,
Okra 40, Ghia 50, Eggplant 40, Cabbage 60, Bitter gourd 60, Arabica 60, Francefin beans 80, Rama Tori are selling at Rs 60 per kg.
The increased rates of vegetables, which used to be sold at 15 to 20 rupees per kg, are disrupting the kitchen budget of the people, while at the same time, they are causing concern that these rates will increase further in rainy days.
Due to the increased rate of vegetables, not only the consumers are upset, but the vegetable sellers are also more upset than the common people because the vegetables are often damaged due to heat and the entire burden of damaged vegetables falls on the head of the shopkeeper.
The vegetable sellers said that these days they are going home with a loss of around 1000 each day, they say that the customer is buying very less of the expensive vegetables and they have to buy vegetables to keep the shop open. It has to be continued, but due to lack of sales, the vegetables often get spoiled in the evening and the vegetables that are brought from the market also get spoiled and all this loss has to be borne by the shopkeeper.
