About 1.40 lakh MT of paddy procured in District SAS Nagar Mandis

        Divulging more details, Deputy Commissioner Jain said that the issue of lifting has been resolved almost and most of the millers have signed the agreement with the concerned procurement agencies. Giving the details, she added that so far 24 millers have been got on board and the rest of the millers have been fulfilling the requisite formalities to get on board. Besides, the produce procured at Mandis of Kurali, Khizrabad, Nagla and Derabassi is also being transported to our district mills for milling by issuing Release orders, said the Deputy Commissioner. She said that by Monday evening, a total of 39540 MT of paddy had been lifted from the Mandis and she assured that the rest of the quantity would also be lifted within coming days.
        “Our district Mandis have witnessed an arrival of 65.30 per cent of paddy produce by last evening against the expected arrival of 214776 MT for the ongoing procurement operations and we hope we will be able to handle the influx of paddy to Mandis smoothly without facing any major difficulty,” said DC Aashika Jain.
       The farmers have been made a payment of Rs 309 Crores against the procured paddy and they would not have to face any problem in Mandis, assured the Deputy Commissioner.
      Divulging the agency-wise details of progress made by the procurement agencies, she said that the major share of purchase i.e. 46672 MT has been procured by the Pungrain while the Markfed with a purchase of 36325 MT is in second place. Punsup has procured a stock of 31505 MT while Punjab State Warehousing Corporation has 12518 MT and Food Corporation of India 12578 MT. Private traders have purchased a quantity of 661 MT in total, she said.
