Chandigarh: District Councilor Jasbir Singh Bunty has installed 40 pipe benches from the ward fund for the convenience of senior citizens who come for a walk in Fragrance Garden Sector 36. The chief guest of the program, Chandigarh Congress Committee President Harmohinder Singh Lucky, inaugurated the installation of the pipe bench. RWA President Paramjit Singh, Major General VS Webley, Dinesh Kapila and Mrs. Kamal Malli were also present on this occasion.
Area councilor Jasbir Singh Bunty said that a total of 179 pipe benches will be installed in all the parks under his ward number 24. Out of which 40 benches have been installed in the Fragrance Garden today. He said that there was a long-standing demand of the elderly people who come for a walk in the garden that no bench etc. should be available to rest when they get tired during the walk. Therefore, this pipe bench has been installed at a cost of 12 lakh rupees from the fund of the ward.
Chandigarh Congress Committee President Harmohinder Singh Lucky said that senior citizens get tired while walking and jogging. and have trouble breathing, in such a situation installing a bench in the garden will give them a lot of relief and also give them good health.
