He said that efforts are being made by the department to take out the area under paddy and bring it under maize crop and to select varieties of paddy that take less time and to adopt the method of direct sowing (which saves 20 percent of water). .
On this occasion, Agriculture Officer Shubhkaran Singh has told that to understand the technique of direct sowing of paddy, there is a need to contact agricultural experts and farmers who have been associated with this method for a long time. So that this sowing is done in Tarbatar lands only, which saves more water and also does not cause the problem of weeds. Agriculture Extension Officer Sucha Singh, BTS, Jagdeep Singh said that direct sowing of paddy should be done only in the morning and evening. And Pendimethanim 30 percent EC mixed with two liters of water should be sprayed within 24 hours after sowing. With which weeds can be eliminated before they emerge.
Progressive farmer Kuldeep Singh Sarpanch said that he started direct sowing of paddy five years ago. In which they kept getting technical information from time to time and they did not face any difficulty. This time they have planned to increase the area under direct paddy cultivation to 60 acres this year.
