District-level Safe Construction Model Competition held in Una.

Una, October 4 - Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal stated that safe construction is the most effective and sustainable measure for disaster risk reduction. If safety standards are followed at every stage of building construction, losses from earthquakes, landslides, and other natural disasters can be significantly reduced.

Una, October 4 - Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal stated that safe construction is the most effective and sustainable measure for disaster risk reduction. If safety standards are followed at every stage of building construction, losses from earthquakes, landslides, and other natural disasters can be significantly reduced.
He stated this while attending the district-level Safe Construction Model Competition held at the Government Senior Secondary School (Boys), Una, on Saturday as the chief guest.
He stated that such competitions help students develop a practical understanding of safe construction techniques and disaster safety principles.
This competition was organized by the District Disaster Management Authority, Una, in collaboration with the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority, under the public awareness campaign "Samarth-2025." Its objective is to increase awareness among students about safe construction, develop the ability to deal with hazardous situations, and ensure the safety of life and property in disaster-prone areas.
The competition featured five models at the high school level, four at the senior secondary level, and one at the college level, from which the best model was selected. Teams from various schools and colleges participated, spreading awareness about the importance of safe construction techniques and disaster risk reduction.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the winning participants will participate in the state-level Safe Construction Model Competition, to be held at the Science Museum, Anandpur Shoghi, from October 7th to 8th. The winning participants will display their models during the disaster reduction exhibition "Samarth-2025" at the Ridge Ground, Shimla, where they will be honored by the Chief Minister.

The Deputy Commissioner, Una, the PO (DRDA), and the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department selected the first, second, and third place winners across all three levels of the competition.
At the high school level, Suryansh of Government Higher Secondary School, Pirthipur secured first place, Chahat and Simran of Kangar School secured second place, and Sonakshi of Government Higher Secondary School, Budhwar secured third place.
At the senior secondary level, Tania and Manat of Government Higher Secondary School, Kaloh secured first place, Suraj Sharma of Government Higher Secondary School, Mandali secured second place, and Manpreet of Government Higher Secondary School, Una secured third place. At the college level, Nitish Kumar and Kashvi Dhiman of SVSDPC College, Bhatoli secured first place.
Present were Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Una, Surendra Kaundal, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, K.S. Thakur, Nodal Officer (Inspire) from the office of the Deputy Director, Pushpa Rani, and DDMA Una Incharge, Rajan Kumar, among others.
