
ROTTO PGIMER and Department of Transfusion Medicine, organize Organ & Blood Donation Camp at Panjab University under ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’
In a collective effort to promote the spirit of giving and to create awareness among the youth, ROTTO PGIMER Chandigarh and the Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER, in collaboration with Udham NGO, organized an Organ Donation Awareness Camp alongside a Voluntary Blood Donation Drive at Panjab University under the banner of ‘ Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ . The initiative aimed to enlighten students about the life-saving impact of organ and blood donation, while instilling a sense of responsibility towards building a stronger and healthier nation.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and volunteers, who came forward to pledge for organ donation and donate blood, reinforcing the importance of selfless service to humanity. A total of 56 units of blood were collected, and 19 students pledged for organ donation, marking a significant step towards nurturing the culture of giving.
Highlighting ROTTO’s commitment to organ donation awareness, Prof. Vipin Koushal, Nodal Officer, ROTTO (North), PGIMER, added, “This initiative is more than just a camp—it is a movement to create informed youth who can champion the cause of donation. By spreading awareness about organ and blood donation, we are sowing the seeds for a stronger, healthier nation built on compassion and solidarity.”
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Ratti Ram Sharma, Head, Department of Blood Transfusion, PGIMER , said, “Blood donation is one of the noblest acts that directly saves lives, while organ donation ensures a second chance at life for those battling end-stage organ failure. Today’s youth must recognize their power to shape a compassionate and healthier India by embracing both.”
The collaboration between ROTTO PGIMER, the Department of Transfusion Medicine, Udham NGO, and Panjab University underlines the role of collective responsibility in healthcare, aiming to transform awareness into action and inspire more individuals to pledge for organ donation.
