Former Mayor Kamlesh Banarasi Das issued a press note today announcing that approximately 68 families from Shahpur Colony are being provided with housing under the Housing Board. He said that when a task is undertaken with complete dedication and honesty, the entire universe helps in its completion.
Chandigarh, September 23, 2025:- Our hard work has paid off: Shahpur Colony families receive houses. Former Mayor Kamlesh Banarasi Das issued a press note today announcing that approximately 68 families from Shahpur Colony are being provided with housing under the Housing Board. He said that when a task is undertaken with complete dedication and honesty, the entire universe helps in its completion.
Describing the occasion as a matter of pride and joy, Kamlesh Banarasi Das said that these families will be provided with houses in various locations such as Sector 38 West, Dhanas, Sector 49, and Industrial Area Phase 1.
He added that the families will have to pay a rent of only ?800 per month for these houses. To make rent payments easier and more transparent, the Housing Board has launched an automatic scanner system, allowing residents to pay from the comfort of their homes.
Kamlesh Banarasi Das, citing his conversation with Mr. Rajesh Sharma of the Housing Board's Colony Branch, stated that he assured them that the allotment would be done in a completely transparent manner through an auto-draw system under the supervision of judges.
The former Mayor expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Chandigarh MP Mr. Manish Tewari, the DC, and the Housing Board for this achievement. He also congratulated all the colony residents who trusted him and saw their dream of owning a home come true.
He urged the colony residents to celebrate Diwali in their new homes and urged them to never sell them.
Senior Congress leader Mr. Mohammad Sadiq, Vice President Saroj Sharma, and General Secretary of the Mahila Congress Chandigarh, Kuljeet Kaur, also accompanied Kamlesh Banarasi Das, extending their best wishes for the upcoming festivals.
