Patiala, 6 February- Additional District Magistrate of Patiala Isha Singal has issued orders using the powers conferred under the Indian Civil Security Code that whenever any person living within the jurisdiction of Municipal Committees, Nagar Panchayats and Gram Panchayats within the limits of Patiala district keeps a tenant/servant/paying guest in his house, he will ensure that his complete details are registered in the nearest police station/post.
The prohibitory order states that due to the proximity of Patiala district to Chandigarh and Haryana and the presence of industries here, many people from other states and outside districts come here for jobs/work etc. Apart from this, students/learners who have come from other states to study in other educational institutions/organizations, people associated with various professions/businesses as paying guests and employees serving in call centers are also living on rent.
Many of these people return after committing the crime and it becomes difficult to trace them. Landlords do not register the information of these tenants with the police, due to which there is a fear of law and order deteriorating. These orders will remain in force till 5 April 2025.
