Hoshiarpur- The main objective of the District Red Cross Society, run under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner-cum-President District Red Cross Society Ashika Jain, is to help the needy, poor, physically challenged and widowed women.
To fulfill this objective, the Red Cross Society organizes camps at different places from time to time to provide public services. In this regard, the society organized a free artificial limb fitting camp at the Red Cross office in collaboration with ACT Humane Society, Ludhiana.
In this camp, 21 beneficiaries were provided free prosthetic limbs with the help of ACT Humane Society founder Harleen Kaur, General Manager Deep Kalra, Fupro Mohali founder Nimish Mehra, Gian Singh and Surinder Kaur NRI (Canada). These were the beneficiaries whose one or both legs were amputated due to an accident or other reasons.
Earlier, a camp was organized on August 7 to identify these 21 beneficiaries, in which their measurements were taken and artificial limbs were prepared. During this, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain attended as the chief guest. She appreciated the efforts of ACT Humane Society Ludhiana.
She said that the Red Cross Society of Hoshiarpur will continue to help physically challenged people by organizing such camps in the future as well. He thanked the ACT Humane Society for supporting the Red Cross and said that due to these prosthetic limbs, these beneficiaries will now be able to lead a normal life and earn their livelihood.
Apart from this, the artificial limbs will also increase the self-confidence of these beneficiaries. Secretary District Red Cross Society Mangesh Sood said that the beneficiaries who got the benefit of artificial legs were very happy on this occasion. They shared their views and expressed their happiness.
