The above words were expressed by Professor Dr. Amrik Singh, the referee of the national fame of Kabaddi, who said that the hard work, dedication, honesty and determination received from parents are the foundation of which becomes a ladder to fulfill their desired goals and becomes the encouragement for the steps.
He said that while studying in school, the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Awardee of Kabaddi, Baba Bohar Sarwan Singh, got such a hand on the head that he not only played the Junior National three times, but also won a silver medal.
While studying in college, he secured second place in the senior group in the All India Inter University Kabaddi. He also won the title of Mr. University and Mr. Punjab in body building in his weight category.
He said that Professor Gursewak Singh, known as the epitome of a physical education teacher, after completing his master's degree from Physical Education Patiala, of course, he also obtained a doctorate degree, but Santprem Singh Karamsar served as an assistant professor of Physical Education at Khalsa College Begowal and played many final matches of the Guru Nanak Dev University Championship for the college team.
It was not only about getting the first/second position, but many players in Kabaddi and Athletics made themselves and the institution shine at the All India Inter University and international levels.
He said that as a professor, he served as a program officer for NSS, while also serving as a Captain in NCC, enabling NCC cadets to obtain B and C certificates, and while leading the Continent Commander in TSC, he led the NCC of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal and Chandigarh in Delhi.
While teaching in the college, he also served as a registrar and vice principal, and served as a referee in the World Kabaddi Cup organized by the Badal government, and also served as a referee in the All India Police Game. There, under the leadership of Ashok Das, President of the World Kabaddi Federation, he also won the title of being the best referee in England, New Zealand, Malaysia, Peru (South America), Italy, etc.
In the same year, in June 2026, he served as the coach of the England Kabaddi team in the World Kabaddi Cup held in England and the team won the silver medal for the first time. He was not born in a corporate family but was born to a government employee, father Late Sardar Joginder Singh Kanugo and mother Surjit Kaur, and a housewife.
It is only the result of the parents' hard work that the elder brother Man Singh, being a national level bodybuilder and power lifter, retired from an honorable position in the Postal Department. The second elder brother has retired from the post of Colonel in the army and has served as Deputy Director Sainik Welfare Officer, while the younger brother Professor Ranjit Singh is also serving in the college.
Professor Dr. Amrik Singh has returned from serving as the Chief Technical Official in the European Kabaddi Championship Cup to be held in the Italian city of Bergamo from 19 to 20 July, while currently serving as the Head of the Sports Department at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Urban State, Kapurthala under the leadership of Principal Dr. Baldev Singh Dhillon.
Congratulating Professor Amrik Singh on this international responsibility, international hockey player Ripudaman Kumar Singh, District Kabaddi Association President Lecturer Jaswinder Pal State Awardee, General Secretary PTI Charanjit Singh, Youth Welfare Board President Rajiv Walia, Kabaddi Coach Amarjit Dhami, Principal Anup Vas, Principal Dr. Jagsir Singh Brar, Principal Dr. Daljit Singh Khaira, Professor Kamal Gupta, Jaswant Singh France, Kulwinder Singh Germany, Kabaddi Coach Ram Singh, Joginder Thal USA etc. congratulated Professor Sahib on this achievement of Dr. Amrik Singh and especially Swaran Singh Gholia who extended special congratulations from Australia and invited him to come to Australia.
President of Italy Kabaddi Federation Sukhmander Singh Johal said that Dr. Amarjit Singh's services were very commendable for the European Kabaddi Championship and congratulated him in particular.
