Patiala, October 5 - As per the directions of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav, the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, under the leadership of Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Jaswinder Singh, celebrated a field day in the fields of Colonel Bhupinderpal Singh in village Bhathlan regarding stubble management and direct sowing of paddy.
On the occasion of this field day celebrated in collaboration with Manav Vikas Sansthan, Agriculture Extension Officer Ravinder Pal Singh Chattha told about the facilities provided by the government regarding direct sowing of paddy and stubble management, the benefits of mixing stubble in the fields. On this occasion, technical information was shared regarding the ongoing disease attack in paddy and oil.
On this occasion, progressive farmer Colonel Bhupinderpal Singh appealed to the farmers of the district to adopt direct sowing of paddy to save water and spread the stubble in the fields after harvesting. While stubble helps in saving water, when we mix stubble in the fields through mulching, the organic matter in the soil increases and the use of fertilizers has to be reduced.
He said that they use limited fertilizers and limited water, due to which the attack of insects on the crop is very less. And the weight and size of the grains are more than traditional crops. On this occasion, Agriculture Officer Gurmeet Singh and farmers of villages Bhathlan, Mitthu Majra, Chamarheri and Raipur Mandal were also present.
