Mahilpur- Heavy storm and torrential rain in Punjab for the last two-three days has affected the life of the people. Due to natural disaster, trees have fallen at many places and power supply has been badly affected due to broken wires. To provide relief to the people in this difficult situation, MP from Hoshiarpur Dr. Rajkumar Chabbewal himself has taken the charge. MP Dr. Rajkumar Chabbewal has contacted the high officials of the electricity department PSPCL (Punjab State Power Corporation Limited) and issued instructions to restore power supply.
He said in clear words that people cannot be forced to live in heat and darkness. On this subject, he has met PSPCL-co-managing director Ajay Kumar Sinha (who also had a direct conversation with IEHS) and asked him to take immediate action. He said that Ajay Kumar Sinha has assured that he will call a meeting today and find a solution to the problem.
The MP has also spoken to Senior Engineer Jaswinder Singh Virdi and has given instructions to restore power supply on priority basis in the affected areas. The contract workers appointed in the department have been on strike for the last two-three days, due to which there is a delay in repair and restoration of electricity. MP Chabbewal said that in such a situation, help of external workers should be taken to smoothen the power supply and provide relief to the public at all costs.
At the same time, Executive Sandeep Sharma said that about 80 percent of the power supply has been restored due to the efforts of the department. He said that the power supply will be normalized by completing the work in the remaining areas soon. Due to incidents of falling trees and wire breakage, there is a need to install poles and replace transformers in many areas, which is being done immediately. MP Dr Rajkumar Chabbewal has appealed to the public to maintain patience and assured that he himself is monitoring the power supply system.
He has instructed PSPCL officials to keep a close watch on the situation and any kind of negligence will not be tolerated. Dr Chabbewal finally said that solving the problems of the public is his priority and together with administrative implementation, he will soon bring the entire situation back to normal.
