
We will eradicate drug abuse through public awareness and concrete action: Sandeep Kumar Malik.
Hoshiarpur- A special meeting of the district police and anti-drug front officials was held today with the aim of further strengthening the Punjab government's decisive campaign to eradicate drug abuse in the district, 'Drug War'. The meeting was chaired by SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik, in which all SPs and SHOs, District President of the Front Satwant Singh Sian and all Assembly Convenors were present.

SSP Malik clarified that as per the instructions of DGP Punjab, efforts are being made on a war footing to eradicate drug abuse in the district. He emphasized that Punjab Police should make the district drug free. He said that from the month of August, a comprehensive awareness campaign will be run by 'Gram and Ward Raksha Samitis' in villages and urban wards so that people's participation can be increased.
It was decided in the meeting that in the next phase of the war against drugs, coordination between the police and social organizations will be further strengthened. Along with action against the drug network in the district, making the public aware will be a priority. The SSP clarified that the fight against drug abuse is not limited to law and order, but its aim is to eradicate drug abuse from its roots by making it a social movement.
District Convener of Drug Detoxification Front Satwant Singh Sian said that this campaign being run under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is a strong step towards freeing the state from the evil of drug abuse. He said that the achievements made in the first phase are inspiring.
In the second phase, more effective efforts will be made for complete elimination of drug abuse. He informed that many topics were discussed in detail in the meeting, which included aspects like administrative cooperation, public participation, role of treatment centers and strengthening the information network. The officials said that no stone will be left unturned to make this campaign a success with mutual coordination.
On this occasion, Vice President Dr. Mukesh Kanda, Assembly Constituency Convener Baljit Singh Chabbewal, Jasvir Singh, Balwinder Dhillon, Captain Tarsem Singh, Kanchan Deol, Parminder Singh Sajjana, Gurpreet Singh, Jasvir Singh and many police officers were present.
