Hoshiarpur, March 11: Mayor Municipal Corporation Surinder Kumar informed that a special budget meeting was held today on 11.03.2025 at 11:00 am, in which Mr. Brahm Shankar Hon'ble MLA Hoshiarpur, Dr. Amandeep Kaur, PCS Commissioner, Mrs. Parveen Lata Saini Senior Deputy Mayor, Mrs. Ranjita Chaudhary Deputy Mayor, Mr. Jaspal Chechi Chairman Market Committee, Mr. Sandeep Tiwari Joint Commissioner, Mr. Ajay Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Mr. Satish Saini Supervising Engineer, Mr. Kuldeep Singh, Corporation Engineer, Mr. Harpreet Singh Corporation Engineer, Mr. Lakhbir Singh, City Town Planner, Mr. Rajinder Kumar, Accountant, Group Superintendent, Group Sanitary Inspector and various other officers of Municipal Corporation attended the meeting. Various city councilors specially participated in this meeting, after which each item of the budget like income expenditure, contingency expenditure and expenditure on development works was discussed. In this meeting, special attention was given to keeping more provision for development works and expenditure and a total of Rs 1671.34 lakh was approved for development works. Rs 12 lakh was passed for the maintenance of parks, while Rs 1 crore was approved for the maintenance of cow shelters and stray animals, Rs 18 lakh for the maintenance of public toilets.
Thus, like every year, this year also a total budget of Rs 7752.00 lakh was passed for the overall development of the city and other expenditure matters for the financial year 2025-26. He further informed that after the budget meeting on 11.03.2025, a general meeting of the House was held at 01:00 pm, in which various officers of the Municipal Corporation participated, while Shri Brahm Shankar, Hon'ble MLA Hoshiarpur was specially present.
Various councillors participated in it, in this meeting special attention was also given to the overall development of Hoshiarpur city, in which works worth Rs 34.41 crore were passed for the development works of the entire city, black spots were identified by the office to bring the city out of darkness, an expenditure of Rs 7.00 crore was approved for installing street lights at various places in the city.
A total expenditure of Rs 5.00 crore has been approved for installing new tube wells, reboring of tube wells and repair of tube wells, as the Municipal Corporation is committed to provide basic amenities to the city residents. Therefore, the Municipal Corporation will leave no stone unturned for the development of Hoshiarpur city.
Giving further information, he said that in view of cleanliness and hygiene of the city, a total expenditure of Rs 48.91 lakh has been approved for the assistants appointed for the newly purchased Tata S.
