Mohali police arrested two persons with 2 kg of opium

SAS Nagar, March 13 - Mohali police have arrested two persons in a truck with 3 kg of opium near the petrol pump of Khijrabad in the area of police station Majri on the intervening night of March 12 and 13. Giving information in this regard, the police spokesperson said that these persons were arrested by the police as per the directions of SSP Dr. Sandeep Kumar Garg under the supervision of SP Mrs. Jyoti Yadav and DSP Harsimran Singh during the campaign against the bad elements. Harminder Singh has been arrested by the in-charge CIA staff Mohali (Camp at Kharar) team.

He said that the police party recovered 2 kg of opium from the cabin of truck number PB 65 X-5607 (in which these two persons were riding) standing in the right hand ground a little ahead of the pump. In this regard, a case under Section 18-61-85 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Block Majri. He said that the arrested persons have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Soni resident of village Fatwan police station block Majri and Kulwinder Singh alias Golu resident of village Khera police station block Majri.
The spokesperson said that during the interrogation, Gurpreet Singh (whose age is about 31 years and Sadi Suda) said that he has studied up to 7th standard and has been driving a truck for about 5 years. Before that, he used to drive a taxi. Gurpreet Singh said that he had been driving Kulwinder Singh's truck for about two months and had taken paint from Chandigarh to Calcutta on February 23 and had loaded iron pipes from Calcutta to Ludhiana on the way back. On the way, he had picked up a consignment of opium from Barachatta in Jharkhand, which he was to supply further along with truck owner Kulwinder Singh. The spokesperson said that a case of stealing khair wood was also registered against Gurpreet earlier at Mullapur police station.
The second person Kulwinder Singh (who is about 41 years old and married) told the police during interrogation that he has passed 4 classes and has been driving a truck for about 4 years. 2 years ago he bought his own truck and together with his driver Gurpreet Singh ordered this opium which he had to sell to his client. A case of 44 kg crushed poppy seeds has been registered against Kulwinder Singh at Thana Churu Rajasthan, in which he is on bail.
The spokesperson said that these two have been produced in the honorable court today and have been remanded in police custody for 4 days and they are being interrogated further.
