
Farmers to get maximum benefit from the schemes running under the National Horticulture Mission:- Deputy Commissioner, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar
Nawanshahr, March 6:- District Horticulture Mission Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa. Additional Deputy Commissioner(s) Rajeev Verma, officials of various departments and progressive farmers participated in this meeting.

Additional Deputy Commissioner(s) Rajeev Verma, officials of various departments and progressive farmers participated in this meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that the farmers should take maximum advantage of the schemes running under the National Horticulture Mission and reach the domestic consumers by packing their farm produce like fruits, vegetables, mushrooms and honey etc. He instructed the officials to ensure the completion of the targets set by the department within the stipulated time.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (J) asked the Punjab Agro Department official to contact the farmers regarding marketing. He said that the gardeners should be made aware about the schemes being run by the horticulture department by organizing more camps.
In this meeting, Dr. Daljit Singh Gill, Assistant Director Horticulture, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, shared detailed information about the progress of the year 2023-24 and with the consent of all the officials and farmers present, the proposal of the Annual Action Plan for the year 2024-25 was approved. . Information was given to the farmers about various schemes of National Horticulture Mission like New Gardens, Hybrid Vegetables, Mechanization, Pack House, Vermi Compost Unit, Low Tunnel and Mulching etc. Officials and progressive farmers Gurpreet Singh Sekhon, Prakash Ram, Amarjit Singh from Agriculture Department, Horticulture Department, Land Conservation Department, NABARD, Punjab Agro, District Mandi Board, Markfed and KVK participated in this meeting.
