Chandigarh: 21st October, 2024: On 21st October 2024, the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) Chandigarh Chapter, in collaboration with the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Punjab Engineering College, organized the Talent Hunt 2024 – a Metallurgy and Materials Science Quiz. The event saw the participation of 21 teams from 7 schools in Chandigarh.
The quiz focused on Materials Science and Metallurgy, covering topics such as the properties of metals and non-metals, extraction and refining processes, the use of metals in various industries, and chemical properties of elements from 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade textbooks. The winners of the event were as follows:
1st position: Gursameep (Class 12) and Ridit (Class 12) from GMSSS 35D.
2nd position: Delisha (Class 12) and Muskaan (Class 12) from GMSSS 35D.
3rd position: Vivekanand (Class 12) and Praison P. (Class 12) from GMSSS 33D.
After the quiz, refreshments were distributed, followed by presentations by Dr. Vibhor Chaswal and Dr. Gauravpal Singh on the scope of Materials and Metallurgy. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony. Dr. Uma Batra and Dr. JD Sharma presented the prizes: ?3000 for 1st place, ?2000 for 2nd place, and ?1000 for 3rd place, along with medals and Certificates of Excellence. All participants received Certificates of Participation. The event was organized by Dr. Kaustubh R. Kambale (Incharge, IIM Student Chapter), Manish Sharma (Secretary and Organizer), and Shailesh Swaroop (Organizer), with support from other IIM members, ensuring smooth coordination throughout.
