Chandigarh, September 21 - Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini today launched the Regional Road Upgradation Project with an aim to strengthen the road infrastructure of the state. Under this project, 4,227 roads spread over 9,410 km will be repaired and upgraded in the current financial year at a cost of ?4,827 crore.

Addressing a state-level programme organised in Hisar district, the Chief Minister said that today will be a golden chapter in the development of Haryana's infrastructure. This project will prove to be a milestone in building a developed India and a developed Haryana in the coming years. This is a project that will bridge the gap between rural and urban areas, provide better connectivity and further enhance the economic, social and business scenario of the state. Under this project, the repair and improvement work of 410 roads was inaugurated today.
The Chief Minister said that the government is ensuring that no contractor or official is negligent in the construction of infrastructure. Wherever there are complaints about the quality of construction, strict action will be taken. This is public money, and every penny of it should be spent for the good of the public.

From Defence Corridors to Goods Corridors, from Bharatmala to Sagarmala, the Prime Minister is working on a mission mode to expand the network of roadways, railways and air connectivity across the country. He said that the Regional Road Upgradation Project will reduce the cost of transport, reduce pollution, save fuel and give a boost to industry and agriculture.

Shri Naib Singh Saini said that in the last 11 years, 43,703 km of roads have been improved in the state at a cost of ?28,651 crore. In addition, 2,417 km of new roads have been constructed at a cost of ?2,534 crore. In addition, 2,432 km of roads have been constructed at a cost of ?1,077 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. There are a total of 759 railway crossings in the state.
Of these, 592 are manned and 167 are automated. In the last 11 years, 97 railway overbridges and underground bridges have been constructed at a cost of about ?2,000 crore. Currently, construction work is underway on 47 railway overbridges and underground bridges at a cost of ?1,026 crore. However, during the 10-year tenure of the Congress party, only 51 railway overbridges and underground bridges were constructed.
The Chief Minister said that our double-engine government has approved 21 new national highways in Haryana. Of these, 12 have been completed. After their completion, there is no district in the state which is not connected to a national highway. In the last 11 years, 1,719 km of national highways have been constructed in the state at a cost of ?28,582 crore. During the 10 years of the Congress party's rule, 451 km of national highways were constructed at a cost of ?1,713 crore. Apart from this, 27 toll tax barriers have been removed to facilitate transportation.
The Chief Minister said that fulfilling a long-standing demand, the Rohtak-Mahem-Hansi railway line has been constructed at a cost of ?844 crore. The Sonipat-Jind railway line has been constructed at a cost of ?713.40 crore. The country's first elevated railway line has been constructed in Rohtak. Work is underway on an elevated railway line in Kurukshetra at a cost of ?265 crore.
A rail coach repair factory has been set up in the body of Sonipat at a cost of ?483.64 crore. In Faridabad, the YMCA Chowk to Ballabhgarh Metro line has been started at a cost of ?580 crore, the Badarpur-Mujesar Metro line at a cost of ?2,494 crore, and the Bahadurgarh-Mundka Metro Rail service at a cost of ?2,029 crore. Similarly, in Gurugram, the Metro Rail service from Sikanderpur station to Sector 56 has been started at a cost of ?2,143 crore.

Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Minister Shri Ranbir Gangwa thanked Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini for inaugurating the Regional Road Upgradation Project. He said that under this project, all the roads of PWD Department, Marketing Board, HSVP, HSIDC, etc. will be upgraded. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's dream is to make India a developed nation by 2047, and to achieve this dream, it is necessary to build a strong infrastructure. This project will prove to be a milestone in realizing that vision.
He said that there will be no compromise on the quality of road construction and the construction standards will be strictly followed. The work on the allotted tenders will be completed on time. He appealed to the public to consider the roads as their property and cooperate with the government in their protection. Today's launch program is not just an event but the foundation of Haryana's future. Let us come together and pledge that we will keep these roads clean and cooperate with the government in their maintenance and make Haryana a leader in the vision of a developed India.
