Patiala:- It is very important to start preparations and training at the grassroots level in Punjab to prevent deaths and save victims due to future natural and man-made disasters, floods, earthquakes, traffic accidents and fires.
Celebrating the years 2025-26-2027 as Disaster Management, Civil Defense, First Aid, Fire Safety Awareness, efforts should be made to prepare at least 50% youth, NSS volunteers, NCC cadets, police personnel and workers of social service organizations in villages, cities, institutions of Punjab to help victims in times of crisis. When dying in times of crisis, only trainings, exercises and demonstrations done by one's own hands prove helpful.
But the administration keeps waiting for the Army, NDRV and other organizations. Because people and youth are never trained to protect themselves and help the victims. Whereas, the soldiers of the army and other organizations are continuously trained and practiced. Only through proper arrangements made before the disasters and training given to the people, human and financial losses can be prevented.
Patiala's social reformer and first aid trainer Shri Kaka Ram Verma, retired, Training Supervisor, Red Cross has sent a letter to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Disaster Management Minister and Deputy Commissioner Patiala requesting that people, youth, police factory employees of flood-affected areas be given training in disaster management, first aid, CPR, recovery position, ventilator artificial respiration. Because during disasters, people and youth have always made commendable efforts to save the victims.
It is very important to prepare students, NSS volunteers, NCC cadets and police factory personnel to prevent future natural, human, domestic or commercial disasters and traffic accidents and to save the victims.
At least 50% of the youth in educational institutions should be trained by subject experts, and teams should be formed for 10 types of disaster management, civil defense, first aid, fire safety, rescue and transport of victims and mock drills should be conducted by them in their respective areas by the district administration and panchayats.
It is true that the things learned carefully during the training and the sweat shed while continuously practicing, save lives and prevent losses of life and property during disasters and wars. Disaster management funds can be used by governments to train people and youth. So may Punjabis be honored in the country and the world as helpful angels for reducing accidents and saving precious lives.
