People are in panic due to rising water level in Ghaggar river.

Chandigarh- Due to the rains that have been falling in the hills of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh for the past several days, floods have wreaked havoc in eight districts of Punjab. Along with this, people have also been in panic in Mohali, Patiala, Sangrur and Mansa due to the rising water level in Ghaggar river since the past day. In these four districts, the local administration is keeping a close watch on the Ghaggar river at all times. Along with this, necessary cleaning is also being done at various places.

The Patiala administration had issued a warning in some villages near Ghaggar last night due to rising water level in Ghaggar and appealed to the people to be vigilant. Deputy Commissioner Patiala Dr. Preeti Yadav has said that the administration teams and machinery are working at all important places to ensure smooth flow of water in Ghaggar, Tangri, Markanda and other drains.
Continuous monitoring is being carried out on all the banks of the rivers and there is no danger situation. They have appealed to the people to be vigilant and stay away from water bodies due to the rising water level. The administration said that there is no need to panic and citizens are advised to follow only official warnings.
