Nawanshahr- A convoy of hundreds of farmers, labourers, women and students left from Udapar village to join the state level rally being organised in Sangrur today against police raj. Earlier, farmers, construction workers, auto workers, rural and farm labourers, students, women and youth from various parts of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district gathered in large numbers at Udapar.

On this occasion, State Convener of Democratic Lawyers Association Punjab Daljit Singh Advocate, State Press Secretary of Indian Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU) Jasbir Deep, District President of Kirti Kisan Union Surinder Singh Bains, District President of Auto Union Puneet Kumar Bachhori, President of Dr. Ambedkar Bhawan Charitable Trust Satish Kumar Lal, State Finance Secretary of Punjab Students Union Baljit Singh Dharamkot, Leader of Gramin Mazdoor Union Kiranjit Kaur, District President of Migrant Mazdoor Union Parveen Kumar Nirala, President of Rehri Mazdoor Union Hare Ram, District President of Bhatta Mazdoor Union Gurdayal Rakkad, Leader of Nirman Masonry Mazdoor Union Om Prakash were present.
He said that a large number of people from across Punjab will join the state level rally being held in Sangrur today in support of the brotherhood organizations against the release of the arrested leaders of Land Acquisition Struggle Committee Sangrur and against police repression.
He said that on May 20, at the instigation of the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab, the police arrested the leaders and workers of the Land Acquisition Struggle Committee, who were going to settle Begumpura on 927 acres of benami land in Sangrur district, many of whom are still in jail. The police called two leaders of the committee on the pretext of talks and arrested them. He said that the Mann government is turning Punjab into a police state, fake police encounters are taking place every day, deaths are occurring in police custody. Struggle organizations are being suppressed by police repression and houses are being demolished with bulldozers on the lines of UP.
He said that the Mann government does not praise Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Dr. BR Ambedkar. It is tired but their real heirs are serving sentences in jails. He said that the anti-Dalit face of the Mann government is being exposed day by day. The leaders said that the struggles of the people cannot be suppressed by force. He said that the organizations will break the terror of the police by holding a big gathering in Sangrur.
