Paigam-E-Jagat/Maur Mandi July 15- Heavy rains in the villages of Maur constituency have become a disaster for farmers, where hundreds of acres of Kharif crops have been submerged in water due to waterlogging in the fields, causing financial losses of lakhs of rupees to the farmers.
According to information, due to heavy rains in the villages near Maur constituency for the last two days, the fields of many villages have become waterlogged, especially about 250 acres of crops in Kotli Khurd village have been flooded, due to which the paddy planted in the fields, the sown moong have been submerged in water. There is a fear that the maize crop will also be destroyed due to the filling of several feet of water. The farmers' motors/tubewells have been submerged in water.
On this occasion, Bhola Singh, president of the village Kotli Khurd unit of the Bharatiya Kisan Union Sidhupur, said that farmers have suffered huge economic losses due to the flooding of hundreds of acres of land. Agriculture was already in crisis and the water has submerged the crops. The biggest blow has been to the farmers who farm on lease, who will now find it difficult to even pay their contracts.
The farmers said that their motorbikes etc. have also been submerged in water, the maize crop was to be harvested now, but now due to excessive waterlogging, tractors will not be able to work in the maize. The farmers said that the water is now so high in the fields that it will not be possible to sow other crops soon, due to which the cost of the previously planted paddy will also be lost.
Giving information about the situation, the farmers said that when farmers set fire to the stubble of the crop in the fields, the administration comes to know only through satellites, but now if the administration itself comes to the fields and sees the damage, then two farmers can get help.
