Chandigarh, July 1, 2025: The Waveguard Splash Summer 2025 Camp and 2-day refresher course for competitive swimming coaches organized by Waveguard Swim Club successfully concluded today at Panjab University, Chandigarh. This four-week long special training was conducted under the leadership of renowned Olympic Coach Eric Landa from the Netherlands.
Eric Landa, who has been associated with Waveguard for the past one year, provided training focused on technical skills, high performance systems and international standard coaching methods during this camp. The aim of this initiative was to enrich the culture of swimming in Punjab and take the standard of coaching to the global level.
The chief guest of the closing ceremony was Sarvjit Singh, IAS, Secretary, Sports Department, Government of Punjab. The presence of Sarvjit Singh, who was himself a swimmer in the past, reflected the changing policies and commitment of the government towards sports. The Punjab government appointed all its swimming coaches for this refresher course so that they could benefit from international training.
Waveguard Swim Club bore all the expenses of the camp and the course on its own, thereby ensuring that the opportunities were given only to the talent and not on the basis of financial circumstances. The club always sticks to the motto of free participation in all its endeavors.
The Director of Sports, Panjab University, Mr. Rakesh Malik also extended his full support in this endeavor, with whose help the university swimming pool and accommodation arrangements for the players were made.
Waveguard Club spokesperson Ashok Sharma thanked all the dignitaries, parents and participants and appealed for joint efforts between the government, universities and private clubs to take the standard of swimming in Punjab to a higher level.
