
Punjab State Women Commission collaborates with MSME PCI Punjab to strengthen Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Punjab.
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, June 1: In line with its commitment to promote a safe, participatory and empowering environment for women in Punjab, Punjab State Women Commission in collaboration with MSME PCI (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Council of India) Punjab today launched the “Empower Her Punjab Initiative”, which aims to support women and SHGs across the state by bringing about change in various sectors.
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, June 1: In line with its commitment to promote a safe, participatory and empowering environment for women in Punjab, Punjab State Women Commission in collaboration with MSME PCI (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Council of India) Punjab today launched the “Empower Her Punjab Initiative”, which aims to support women and SHGs across the state by bringing about change in various sectors.
Giving information, Chairperson Raj Lali Gill said that this initiative marks the beginning of a significant partnership between the Commission and MSME PCI Punjab to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and SHG empowerment.
Listing out the key objectives of “EmpowerHer Punjab”, Chairperson Mrs. Gill said that the joint initiative aims to create awareness among women about health, mental well-being and social leadership.
Similarly, strengthening support systems for self-help groups through capacity building and access to resources and promoting women’s participation in economic activities and policy implementation will also be part of the collaboration.
She added that apart from generating information on government schemes, micro-enterprise development and financial facilities, the initiative will also include engaging sessions like exhibitions, skill demonstrations and awareness campaigns to connect women with advanced development opportunities.
The Chairperson of Punjab State Women’s Commission further said that importantly, this initiative will primarily help in providing a platform for self-help groups for marketing, skill enhancement, funding, raw materials, technical upgradation and exhibitions etc. as per the concept of Rangla Punjab.
He said that the ongoing efforts to uplift the living standards of women, today is the beginning of the understanding of this new initiative and soon all the necessary formalities and modalities will be completed by the Rural Development and Panchayat Department to make it beneficial for all the Self Help Groups working across the state.
On this occasion, Ms. Pooja Dhunna, Chairperson of MSMEPCI Punjab Chapter, was also present, who assured Chairperson Raj Lali Gill of strengthening women entrepreneurship through this initiative through measures like mindset change, mobilisation of Self Help Groups, skill development and increasing access to Corporate Social Responsibility and government support systems across Punjab.
