Briefing the press, leaders of Democratic Employees Federation Mukesh Kumar, Sukhdev Danceiwal and labour leaders said that for the last 34 years, under the guidelines of big corporates from all over the world, as the next phase of economic policies being implemented by the Central and State Governments, an attempt is being made to take history back by increasing the daily working hours by breaking labour laws.
Under these guidelines, the Punjab Government has recently increased the daily working hours from 8 to 12. As the first phase of the struggle against this, IFTU, DMF and Pendu Mazdoor Union are sending demand letters against this to the Chief Minister through MLAs/Ministers across Punjab on 13th June.
Along with this, a nationwide strike will be organized on 9th July against these anti-labour, anti-employee and anti-people policies. The leaders said that the capitalist class, in its greed to earn maximum profits, wants to completely exploit the labour class in the coming times, but the labour class will never allow these intentions of the capitalists to be fulfilled.
During the submission of the memorandum of demands, Kirti Kisan Union state leader Harmesh Singh Dhesi, employee leaders Rajinder Singh, Manjit Singh Banga, Mandeep Kumar and Avtar Singh Tari, Raj Kumar Sadoa, Sanjeev Kumar, and Makhan Singh and other labour leaders were present.
