Nawanshahr- A special seminar was organized on World Child Labour Day at Red Cross Detoxification Center Nawanshahr, which was chaired by Project Director Chaman Singh. Addressing the gathering, he said that World Day Against Child Labour is observed every year on June 12 to create global awareness about child exploitation and appeal for collective action to end it.
The day focuses on drawing attention to the plight of children who are forced to work instead of getting an education. Child labour refers to children below the age of 14 who are forced to work in homes, shops, farms, factories and other areas, often due to poverty, pressure or exploitation.
He said the theme of the day is "Progress is evident, but there is more to do: Let's accelerate efforts!". It highlights the fact that millions of children are being exploited despite the fact that many countries have successfully reduced the number of child labour cases.
He said That this day reminds us that it is the responsibility of all of us to ensure that every child gets education, protection and healthy upbringing. Efforts should be made so that no child is deprived of education till class tenth. This will lead to their physical, mental and intellectual development. They will be able to live a life with dignity.
The laws made by the Government of India regarding child labor should be implemented. Councillor Kamaljit Kaur and Kulwant Singh also expressed their views on this day. Manjit Singh, Dinesh Kumar, Kamala Rani, Jaswinder Kaur and patients were present on this occasion.
