Patiala: June 11: Yesterday on the call of PRTC Retired Workers Community Union (ATC), hundreds of retired employees protested in front of PRTC office in Patiala protesting against salary, pension, medical bills, retirement arrears, pay commission arrears and many other arrears and non-payment of pension for the month of May. This demonstration was led by all the leaders Shri Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal Patron, Uttam Singh Bagri President, Mohammad Khalil General Secretary and Ram Saroop Aggarwal etc.
Addressing the protestors, Shri Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal, Mohammad Khalil and Uttam Singh Bagdi said that today's government and bureaucracy have become so insensitive that they have started considering it a matter of their own free will to violate and ignore the duties, responsibilities, laws and rights of the employees.
If this is not the case then the employees who have dedicated their lives to the organization by working hard till old age, their salary and pension should not be delayed even by a single day.
So even though the 11th has happened, there is no clear indication as to when it will be available. Because the anti-people government in favor of capitalists and businessmen of Punjab has promised to give 600 crore rupees to the government for free travel of PRTC, despite this, the necessary money is not being given to PRTC for the essential needs.
While pay commission arrears, superannuation arrears, medical bill arrears and many other arrears of more than 170 crores are not being paid to the employees for years. The leaders expressed strong opposition and said that the chairman of PRTC is a political leader of your party who has now become the mastermind of PRTC by going beyond his rights.
Similarly, 4-5 other leaders of the same party are holding the posts of Vice Chairman and Board of Directors of PRTC. Is it not the duty of all of them to protect the legal rights of the employees and also arrange to bring some new buses for the betterment of PRTC, which has not received a single bus in four years.
While the government will not give any money to bring these buses. The leaders have warned the management that this kind of financial oppression will not be tolerated for much longer. Rather, as an immediate action to express their opposition and expose the anti-employee face of the government, a fury march will be taken out in the by-election constituency of Ludhiana on 14 June 2025.
