Mahilpur- To seek the blessings of the saints and great men for the success of the 'War on Drugs' campaign launched by the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab to make the state drug-free, Sukhmani Sahib was recited at Gurdwara Banha Sahib in village Bahowal in Chabbewal assembly constituency and prayers were offered to God.
During the event, while saints and great men from other parts of the district including Chabbewal constituency arrived, Lok Sabha member from Hoshiarpur Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal and MLA from Chabbewal assembly constituency Dr. Ishank Kumar specially attended and received the blessings of the saints and great men.
At this time, in his address, Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal said that the state government is taking steps with all sincerity to end the scourge of drugs spread in the society, the results of which have started to emerge. He said that while big drug traffickers have been put in jails, drug addicts are being admitted to government drug de-addiction centers and are being treated.
Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal said that religion has always played a positive role in the betterment of society and religion has always been the one to cut the roots of the evils of society. He said that while saints and great men are making people fight for the Guru, saints and great men have also made a big contribution in saving people from the evils of drugs.
Dr. Chabbewal said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the total number of drug traffickers arrested by the Punjab Police has reached 15,861. He said that more than 200 police teams consisting of more than 1500 police personnel are conducting raids across the state under the supervision of 101 gazetted officers. Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal said that he is fully confident that under the leadership of Dr. Ishank Kumar, our dream of making Chabbewal constituency drug-free will soon be fulfilled.
On this occasion, MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar Chabbewal said that along with the development of the constituency, our main goal is to eliminate drug addiction from Chabbewal. He said that while strict action will continue against drug traffickers, we will also leave no stone unturned in treating the victims of this addiction. Appealing to the youth of the constituency, he said that if any of their friends or relatives are stuck in this quagmire of drugs, then help them get them out of it and wherever we are needed, let us know so that drug addiction can be eradicated from the root.
Dr. Ishank Kumar said that when even one member of a family gets stuck in the quagmire of drugs, then he leads his entire family towards ruin, therefore, every member of every family needs to take care of others. He said that he is deeply indebted to all the saints and great men who have assured their support in this campaign against drugs.
