Nawanshahr- Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh congratulated local resident Chandandeep Singh, who won a silver medal in the international boxing matches held in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, on his return to Nawanshahr and said that the district administration and the sports department of the Punjab government have given him the best.
All possible help will be provided to reach greater heights in boxing. Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh, while talking to Chandandeep Singh in his office at the District Administrative Complex, said that the player has made the entire district proud by winning medals at the international level. He wished Chandandeep Singh to work harder in the future and bring glory to Punjab and the country.
He appealed to player Chandandeep Singh to take full advantage of whatever facilities are being provided by the sports department of the Punjab government and to be named in the same way in the future as well. Chandandeep Singh told the Deputy Commissioner that he is a B. .. He is a student of Part III and returned home on May 24 after winning a silver medal. Chandandeep Singh said that he participated in the 70 kg weight category and won the silver medal. District Sports Officer Vandana Chauhan congratulated the player and said that the Sports Department will provide necessary facilities from time to time.
He said that the Punjab Government is taking unwavering steps for the promotion of sports and all-round development of the players under which Rs. 979 crore has been allocated in the current financial year to fulfill the vision of 'Kheda Punjab, Badla Punjab', which is the highest so far. The amount to be released is more than the amount. He said that the state is providing a creative environment to the players and all the facilities required to progress in their sports. Chandandeep Singh (23) thanked Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh for his encouragement and said that the Punjab government’s ‘Kheda Watan Punjab Di’ initiative has strengthened his sportsmanship a lot as he has won silver medals in these games as well. 
He said that he is eager to work hard in future and register victories in more national and international competitions. He said that his coach Jaskaran Singh from Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, prepared him well for the competitions, which resulted in him winning the silver medal. Chandandeep Singh’s father Inderjit Singh, coach Gurpreet Singh etc. were also present on the occasion.
