Una, May 23- Under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh government is implementing its resolve to double the income of farmers and strongly promote natural farming. In this series, the purchase process of wheat produced through natural method has been successfully completed in Takarla and Rampur grain markets of Una district.
According to the information received, 425.818 quintals of natural wheat has been purchased from a total of 41 farmers in these mandis, the total price of which has been fixed at Rs 26,40,071. This amount will soon be sent to the bank accounts of the farmers through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
Virendra Bagga, Project Director, ATMA Project, Una, said that 193.14 quintals of wheat were procured from 17 farmers in Rampur Mandi and 232.678 quintals of wheat were procured from 24 farmers in Takarla Mandi. He said that the state government is also giving minimum support price of Rs 60 per kg and transportation charges of Rs 2 per kg for natural wheat. Thus, Himachal Pradesh is the first state in the country to take the initiative of giving transportation charges along with minimum support price on wheat.
Bagga further said that with the strength of the visionary policies of Chief Minister Shri Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, at present about 16 thousand farmers in Una district have joined natural farming and are doing chemical free farming on about 2 thousand hectares of land. Farmers are currently producing five varieties of wheat through natural method, which not only maintains the fertility of the soil, but also protects the environment and human health. Also, due to reduction in cost and increase in profit, the economy of the farmers is getting a new boost.
It is worth noting that due to this active role of Himachal Government in promoting natural farming and providing good price to the farmers, not only the farmers associated with this farming are very excited and satisfied, but other farmers have also been inspired to join in this direction.
