Una, February 7- Rescue demonstration of two remote operated lifebuoy devices purchased by District Disaster Management and Authority Una for search and rescue was conducted at Govind Sagar reservoir at Brahmoti Mandir Ghat, Una on Friday. This demonstration campaign was successfully conducted under the leadership of Major (Retired) Vikas Saklani, Commandant of 12th Battalion of Home Guard, Una. Apart from this, officers and employees of Home Guard, Fire Department and Mechanical Branch participated.
Commandant Vikas Saklani said that remote operated lifebuoy devices will prove helpful in providing food, medicines and communication facilities in any water related emergency situation in the district.
During this, all the company commanders, BTC in-charge and fire station in-charge were also trained about the operation, assembly and hand-handling of these devices so that they can help in rescue operations in situations like drowning.
On this occasion, Dheeraj Kumar and Rajan Kumar were also present on behalf of District Disaster Management. They handed over these devices to the concerned disaster response agencies. He said that the main objective of purchasing these equipment is to deal with any disaster in future with strength and to strengthen the response capacity of the district.
