Nawanshahr- Red Cross Addiction and Rehabilitation Center Nawanshahr organized an awareness camp under "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan" at Government Middle School of village Raipur. Which was chaired by Mr. Amit Kapoor.
On this occasion, Chaman Singh (Project Director) gave an address and said that drug is a poisonous and narcotic substance which is extremely harmful to human health, it affects our nervous system and makes a person mentally ill. The influence of drug addiction has increased a lot in the society. The number of deaths due to drugs is increasing day by day.
He said that the youth should be aware of drugs so as to avoid the diseases caused by drugs, generally diseases like black jaundice, AIDS, cancer are found in drug addicts. First of all, a person starts with a cigarette and he thinks that we cannot get addicted to it, but the harmful substance released from its smoke not only affects the person but also harms others.
Addiction alienates a person from society and family. The mental level of a person addicted to drugs falls to such an extent that he starts committing accidents like suicide while being away from each and every relationship. We should make our books as well as books related to society a part of our life and connect with sports so that we can build a good future.
On this occasion Mrs. Jaswinder Kaur (Counselor) while addressing the gathering informed the people about the facilities and activities of the center and said that we should take care of our children around us so that we can avoid the evils found in the society. He said that if any youth is caught in this drug-like disease, he should be encouraged to join the center for treatment. He gave detailed information about the treatment of patients at the center.
