PGIMER promotes hygiene and wellness during Swachhata Pakhwada from April 1-15, 2025

Chandigarh, April 15, 2025 - "Cleanliness reflects our commitment to health," said Professor Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, at the Swachhata Awards ceremony marking the conclusion of Swachhata Pakhwada 2025. In line with the Swachhata initiative of the Government of India, PGIMER promoted hygiene and environmental awareness from April 1-15.

Chandigarh, April 15, 2025 - "Cleanliness reflects our commitment to health," said Professor Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, at the Swachhata Awards ceremony marking the conclusion of Swachhata Pakhwada 2025. In line with the Swachhata initiative of the Government of India, PGIMER promoted hygiene and environmental awareness from April 1-15.
The ceremony, attended by Dean (Academics) Professor R.K. Ratho and Deputy Director (Administration) Shri Pankaj Rai (IAS), honoured 55 housekeeping and sanitation workers with 'Best Staff' awards and felicitated competition winners. Professor Vipin Kaushal, Medical Superintendent, said, "Sanitation workers are the backbone of healthcare, ensuring a safe environment."
The Swachhata Pakhwada began with the Swachhata Shapath followed by a cleanliness drive in the hospital blocks, hostels and public areas. Swachhta Pakhwada themed standees were strategically displayed across the campus. Health check-up of over 500 employees was conducted at the Safai Mitra Suraksha Camp on April 2-3, with an emphasis on employee well-being.
Recreational activities included quiz on hand washing and biomedical waste, poster making, debate, poetry, slogan writing, rangoli and ‘Best Out of Waste’ challenge with prizes for the winners. Nukkad Natak creatively highlighted cleanliness and a poster making event was organised at Advanced Paediatric Centre.
