Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, April 02: MLA Kulwant Singh said here today that the government led by Punjab Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Singh Mann is making continuous efforts to promote sports.
In this connection, today MLA Kulwant Singh inaugurated the badminton court constructed by the Municipal Corporation in Park No. 2 in Ward No. 50 Phase-1, which was demanded by the ward residents. In this badminton court, a mat with modern technology has been installed for the convenience of the players. Lights have been installed in this badminton court, which will facilitate the players to play even at night.
The badminton court is covered with a net. The area of ??this badminton court is 59 x 32 feet. The badminton court has been prepared by the Municipal Corporation at a cost of Rs. 1.5 crore. MLA Kulwant Singh said that the Bhagwant Mann government has taken the initiative to revive the sports culture as well as Punjab, the motherland of sports.
He said that the Punjab government is committed to provide all kinds of facilities to the players of the state to earn name at the international level, under which they have been given cash money for preparation and practice for Asian and Olympics, cash awards and posting on high civil and administrative posts on winning medals.
He said that while sports bring discipline in our lives, it is also the best way to keep the youth away from drugs. He said that among the players of northern states, there is a large participation of players from Punjab and Haryana representing the country in international competitions, which the people of Punjab are always proud of.
He said that as part of efforts to make Punjab a leader in every field, special attention is also being given to sports, due to which the youth of Punjab are getting a golden opportunity to participate in sports.
On this occasion Parminder Pal Singh Sandhu, Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Naresh Kumar Batta, Chief Engineer Municipal Corporation Mohali, former Sunil Kumar, Subhash Sharma, Vice Chairman Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Gurmeet Kaur MC, Harbhinder Singh Saini Block President, Harmes Singh Kumbha, Satnam Singh Daun, Jaspal Singh Mataur and area residents were present.
