Khalsa College Economics Department organised special lecture on ‘Increasing Migration Trends from Punjab’

Mahilpur, March 18- The Post Graduate Economics Department of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Mahilpur organised a special lecture on ‘Increasing International Migration Trends from Punjab’ today. On this occasion, Associate Professor Kapil Chopra from the Department of Economics, DAV College Hoshiarpur participated as the resource person.

Mahilpur, March 18- The Post Graduate Economics Department of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Mahilpur organised a special lecture on ‘Increasing International Migration Trends from Punjab’ today. On this occasion, Associate Professor Kapil Chopra from the Department of Economics, DAV College Hoshiarpur participated as the resource person.
Vice Principal of the college Aradhana Duggal shared the welcome words for Professor Kapil Chopra and the guests present and motivated the students to learn from such lectures. Professor Jaswinder Singh, Head of the Department of Economics shared information about the activities of the department and introduced the students present to the teaching journey and research field of the keynote speaker of the programme.
On this occasion, Prof. Kapil Chopra gave information about the definition of migration and the causes, effects and consequences of international migration from Punjab today with examples. He also expressed concern over unnecessary migration from Punjab and also informed the students about the difficulties of migration.
In a question-answer session with students Khushpreet Kaur, Harjot Kaur etc. present on the occasion, Prof. Chopra said that migration is not a bad trend, but before that it is very important to be skilled. He said that good law and order in the country, more employment opportunities and increase in self-employment can reduce such illegal and unnecessary migration.
On this occasion, the organizers specially honored Prof. Kapil Chopra. The stage was conducted by Prof. Jaswinder Singh. On this occasion, Prof. Kanchan, Dr. J.B. Sekhon, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Prof. Ashok Kumar, Prof. Rajinder Kaur, Prof. Amandeep, Prof. Anuradha Rana and Prof. Ranjana along with other students of the college were present.
