SAS Nagar, February 25: Mrs. Komal Mittal, IAS Officer of 2014 batch, today took over as Deputy Commissioner of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar. She replaced Mrs. Ashika Jain, IAS Officer of 2015 batch, who has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Hoshiarpur.
Mrs. Komal Mittal who was serving as Deputy Commissioner, Hoshiarpur before taking over as Deputy Commissioner of SAS Nagar has earlier served as ADC (G) and ADC (UD) at Sahibzada, Additional Secretary in Food & Civil Supplies Department, Punjab, Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Amritsar and SDM Mukerian.
Listing her priorities, she said that implementation of flagship schemes of Punjab Government in the district would be her top priority and a drive against drug abuse would also be launched. The Deputy Commissioner said that transparency in governance, continuing fight against corruption as per the commitment of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and timely delivery of citizen centric services would also be ensured so as to minimize the grievances of the people.
He said that keeping in view the increasing urbanization in district SAS Nagar, especially Mohali, planned development would be ensured and action would be taken against illegal constructions and encroachments.
The Deputy Commissioner said that a meeting would soon be held with travel agents to protect the interests of residents of the district against illegal migration and people would be made aware about the registered travel agents working in the district. Before assuming charge, he was given a guard of honour by the district police.
