
Nearly one lakh visitors arrived on the seventh day of Saras Mela, sales worth Rs. 1.5 crore
Patiala, February 20- The colourful and decorated stalls of Saras Mela organised at Sheesh Mahal here under Patiala Heritage Fair have become a centre of attraction for the tourists coming from Patiala and nearby areas.

Nodal officer of this fair, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Anuprita Johal said that till the seventh day till this evening, nearly one lakh visitors have arrived at Saras (sale of goods of rural artisans) fair organised under the leadership of Patiala Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav.
She said that nearly 220 shops set up for buying and selling of various goods in Saras Mela have become a centre of attraction for the customers. ADC Johal said that on February 19, the total sales at covered stalls was Rs. 17 lakh 96 thousand and sales at open stalls was Rs. 6.35 lakh.
The top 5 stalls on this day were stall number 100 selling suits and silk sarees for Rs 95,000, stall number 90 selling West Bengal Kantha for Rs 55,000, stall number 46 selling Madhya Pradesh incense sticks for Rs 45,000 and stall number 71 selling Madhya Pradesh brass and brass utensils for Rs 42,500.
Similarly, in the open stalls, marble decorative items by Salim Qureshi were sold for Rs 80,000, Mohammad Salamuddin's carpet for Rs 50,000, Mohammad Nazim's small utensil for Rs 35,000, NULM Bathinda's carpet for Rs 30,000 and Sabita Mandal's dry flowers for Rs 30,000.
He said that till now sales worth about Rs 1.5 crore have been made. Anuprita Johal said that on the evening of 21st February, famous actor and folk singer Ranjeet Bawa will showcase his singing talent.
