District level awareness seminar in Balachaur under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign

Balachaur- Under the directions of Civil Surgeon Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, a district level awareness seminar was organized today at Government Girls Senior Secondary School Balachaur under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao with the cooperation of Senior Medical Officer Dr. Kulwinder Mann.

Balachaur- Under the directions of Civil Surgeon Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, a district level awareness seminar was organized today at Government Girls Senior Secondary School Balachaur under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao with the cooperation of Senior Medical Officer Dr. Kulwinder Mann. The seminar was organized under the leadership of District Health Officer-cum-Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. Renu Mittal.
Officers and employees of the Health Department, School Principal Pooja Gupta and all the teachers gave their full cooperation. On this occasion, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Renu Mittal, while making people aware about the PCPNDT Act, said that there are many such examples in the history of the country and the world, when girls and women have brought glory to the country. She said that the Punjab Government has made special efforts and in all government hospitals, girls up to five years of age are treated free of cost.
He made people aware about Bal Sanrakshan Yojana, Janani Suraksha Yojana, PCPNDT Act and other facilities being run by the government. He said that under the guidance of Civil Surgeon Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, a change will be brought in the mindset of the common people by making them aware about the PCPNDT Act in all the blocks of all the districts. On this occasion, Deputy Group Education and Information Officer Tarsem Lal said that a special awareness campaign is being run to mark the completion of 10 years of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana.
Through this workshop, he appealed to the society to stop female foeticide and consider girls equal to boys. He made the people present aware about female foeticide, child marriage and domestic violence etc. He said that the main objective of this workshop is to stop female foeticide, select suitable sanitary napkin pads for a safe environment and take care of hygiene during menstruation. He also stressed on the need to break social stereotypes and change the mindset of people during menstruation.
He said that changing the mindset of the society to improve the sex ratio is the need of the hour. On this occasion, Principal Puja Gupta said that we should eradicate the evils like female foeticide prevalent in the society and should emphasize on the education of girls. She said that we should change our thinking and consider girls equal to boys.
